Ghost Ranch

An hour northwest of Santa Fe you’ll find Ghost Ranch. Throughout time, it’s been a home to dinosaurs, Pueblo tribes, cattle rustlers, and Georgia O’Keefe. The landscapes look incredibly familiar, and at the same time, absolutely otherworldly.

To experience the true magic stay for a few days to take an art class. The accommodations are rustic but comfortable and taking meals in the dining hall will make you feel like you’re back at summer camp in the best way. 

Hiking the trails, watching the deer grazing on alfalfa, and exploring the library the nervous system can’t help but settle.

 

 

Bandelier National Monument

There’s evidence that humans have been present at Bandelier for at least 10,000 years. Exploring the land, that history is palpable. Deep paths have been worn into the stone by centuries of people walking the same routes. Dwellings built into the canyon walls are still blackened from smoke. It’s difficult to avoid a shift in perspective when you imagine Pueblo people carrying out ordinary tasks—cooking, collecting water, making pottery—here for generations before genealogy records even begin.

Don’t miss the Visitor’s Center, which includes information about the native people who built the structures and the flora and a fauna in the area. 

 

 

Meow Wolf

More than an art installation, this immersive creative space is one of the most overwhelmingly whimsical experiences imaginable. Orienting is nearly impossible, around every corner (and there are many!) a new environment offers a new piece of an unfolding story. You’ll likely leave slightly confused and completely delighted, feeling childlike in the best possible way.
